Vicky Thornley CBE
Olympic Rowing Silver medallist

Vicky Thornley made history by winning a silver medal in the double sculls at the 2016 Rio Olympics with Katherine Grainger. Vicky, a 6ft 3in former model, was first spotted as having potential in rowing by Sir Steve Redgrave’s ‘Sporting Giants’ talent programme in 2007. Success came quickly and Vicky went from never having sat in a boat to becoming Under-23 World Champion just two years later in the women’s eight – the first GB women’s eight to win a gold medal at a world championship.

Since then, Vicky has proved her versatility and strength in both rowing and sculling, stroking the women’s eight to bronze at the 2011 World Rowing Championships, competing in the single scull in 2013 and 2014, and qualifying to compete in the double scull for the 2016 Olympics soon after.

Vicky is an inspiring speaker who will encourage your audience to be bold, commit to their aspirations and achieve them.
