Olympic and world medallist rower
Charles was not particularly sporty in his school days. He was introduced to rowing when talent ID representatives from GB Rowing visited his school in search for future olympians. Charles has experienced first hand the power sport has to change lives.
Charles spent a number of years as British Number 1 in sculling. He was also part of the breakthrough quartet, winning the first ever British World Championship medal in the Quadruple Scull event.
Charles' story is filled with success, but it hasn't had the fairytale ending he hoped for. Whilst at the top of his game and a few months out from the Rio Olympic Games he picked up an season ending injury.
Charles talks passionately about the ups and downs of elite sport, and the lessons he has learnt along the way. He knows what it takes to perform under pressure, and the importance of team work, resilience, grit and self- belief.
