BSc physiotherapy, MSc sports medicine, Head of Wellbeing (consultant) at Moving Ahead

Ashleigh began her international sporting career representing South Africa in hockey before becoming an internationally renowned physiotherapist and lecturer. She has more than 20 years experience of working with world-class athletes and in leading and managing teams in various roles with the English Institute of Sport. She has been responsible for the development and delivery of innovative rehabilitation and performance enhancing athlete health strategies across the uk elite sporting system.

Ashleigh believes that to manage health and wellbeing effectively requires treating it as a complex problem in a complex context, best tackled by collective and collaborative wisdom from multiple sources. She has also been instrumental in the education of teams to drive a more collaborative approach to the effective management of injury and illness.

As a speaker, Ashleigh’s focus is on developing multidisciplinary teams who are interdependent and with a key message of the importance of collective decision-making. Her experience drives a key question: how might we better help people and organisations to embrace uncertainty and let learning lead the way in optimising health and wellbeing?
