I am... Simon Arrowsmith, Head of Story
I've been... a creative consultant with over 25 years experience in the worlds of story, arts, and learning. I’ve spent my career working with stories in one way or another. From my BA and MA degrees exploring how storytelling works in cultural and performance contexts, to the last five years researching and practically applying the story mind in business. I like to think of myself as a story-crafter. I’m someone who is able to see the way stories work and help others practically, to shape their own stories more effectively. My career has seen me in a diverse number of positions with companies like BUPA, Associated Newspapers and Theatre Royal Drury Lane. I’ve consulted in the use of stories with companies like Nestlé, Sony Pictures, Edelman, Pearson and many more.
I’m proud to be... working with the rest of the Women Ahead team to explore the practical application of story crafting and story telling in both mentoring and women’s development. In particular I’m proud of the support I’ve been able to offer amazing athletes like Victoria Pendleton, Monica Relph and Pamela Relph to share their stories with others.
I bring... a balanced blend of creative passion and business acumen. My love for the world of great storytelling, as both a way of exploring our lives and in expressing what’s important to us all, has helped me support and develop numerous individuals at all levels in their careers. I’m practical and hands-on in my approach, whilst remaining engaging and fun in my methods.
