Athlete-to-Business (A2B) Mentoring Scheme
The Athlete-to-Business (A2B) mentoring scheme was set up by Moving Ahead to provide elite athletes with a corporate mentor. We see mentoring as a great way to provide exposure and contact with the business world. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to better prepare athletes for their transition out from elite sport.
What is mentoring?
Mentoring is a relationship based on an exchange of knowledge, experience, good will and trust. It is an ongoing conversation that builds personal and professional competencies, with the aim of maximising potential, improving performance and helping the mentee become the person they want to be.
How can mentoring benefit athletes?
- Learn from the experiences of others
- Grow a high quality network outside of sport
- Develop necessary business skills
- Prepare for transition out from elite sport
The mentors on the A2B scheme are provided by Moving Ahead partner organisations, and all have a wealth of experience from a range industries and sectors. Partners on the 2017 scheme include PwC, Belorn, Deloitte and LSEG. During the scheme mentees are supported by the Moving Ahead throughout, and it is our role to make sure athletes get the most out of their experience as a mentee.
